During a telephone conversation on Tuesday, Pezeshkian and his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro discussed the latest regional and international developments, particularly in light of Washington's provocations against Caracas. Pezeshkian expressed his satisfaction with Maduro’s report on the national cohesion established in the country, noting that Iran’s experience during the US-Israeli onslaught has shown that “national unity and internal solidarity” defeated the aggressors.“As long as this unity is maintained, no foreign power will be able to harm our countries,” he added. The president stated that for years, the United States has used “false propaganda and unrealistic narratives” as a pretext to justify threats, pressure, and violations of international law against Iran.“Iran strongly condemns any violation of the territorial integrity of countries and supports the territorial integrity of Venezuela with all its might,” he underlined.
In recent weeks, the US deployed at least eight warships and an attack submarine in the Caribbean. More than 4,500 US service members, including some 2,200 Marines, were also reported to be on board the ships.Earlier this week, the US struck a boat it claimed was linked to a drug operation, killing 11 people.Citing sources familiar with the matter, CNN reported on Friday US President Donald Trump is considering carrying out air raids against drug cartels on Venezuelan soil. The Venezuelan president has denied the accusations of involvement in drug trafficking and vowed to declare Venezuela a “republic in arms” if attacked by the US.
During the phone call, Maduro underscored the complete unity and cohesion within Venezuela, adding that this “exemplary solidarity” between the state, the public, and the armed forces has endowed the nation with a power that ensures its safety and strength against any threat.Maduro said the US is waging a psychological war aimed at tarnishing Venezuela’s image through “a fabricated and false narrative”, which is not accepted even among the public opinion of its own people.“We are in complete peace, but with determination and full readiness, we will stand against any possible threat,” he said, referring to the recent US provocative actions against Venezuela.Maduro pointed to the overwhelming response of over eight million Venezuelans ready to defend the nation as proof of the “national spirit and determination” of the nation.
