In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful Mr. President           Today, we witnessed a consensus decision of a geographical group being challenged solely as a result of bullying by U.S. supported by genocidal regime of Israel. This is not simply a disagreement over one decision. It is a direct assault on a long-standing and well-established practice of this Agency and a serious blow to the credibility and integrity of its decision-making process. If the consensus decision of a geographical group can be set aside at the demand of one delegation, what guarantee remains that tomorrow the consensus decisions of other groups—or any other established practice—will be respected? What happens today sets a dangerous precedent whose consequences will extend far beyond this meeting. Four weeks ago, when the U.S. delegation began challenging consensus language and established practices during negotiations on the principal resolutions of the General Conference in OEWGs, we warned that this approach would ultimately hollow out the Conference and undermine its proper functioning. Today, we witnessed yet another manifestation of that approach. And we have every reason to believe that these attempts will continue until the very last hour of this Conference. This must serve as a warning—not only for this Conference, but for those to come. This is no longer about one country or one geographical group. It is about whether the rules, practices, and consensus-based processes upon which every Member State relies will continue to have any meaning. We urge all member States to stand against such approach and support the regional group decision. With this, we would respect the decisions of all geographical groups and despite having strong objections on certain candidates, particularly U.S. as a candidate of a group with only two members, my delegation will not stand in the way of decision by the Conference.
