Statement by the Secretariat of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council on the issue of termination of the Joint Understanding between Iran and the IAEA about the suspension of voluntary implementation of the Additional Protocol
Today, Monday 24th of May 2021, the three-month deadline on keeping the recorded data from the monitoring cameras in Iran’s nuclear facilities ends.
Reaffirming the continuation of suspension of voluntary implementation of the Additional Protocol by Iran based on the Law of “Strategic Action for Lifting Sanctions and the Preservation of the Interests of Iran’s People” , the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council decided on how to proceed with the issue of the termination of the previously agreed deadline with the Agency as follows: due to the ongoing technical negotiations on how to address the safeguards related issues between Iran and the Agency, in parallel with the Vienna negotiations among the participating States of the JCPOA, the data from the monitoring cameras will be kept for one more month as of 24 June 2021, so that enough opportunity would be given for the sake of achieving progress and conclusion of the negotiations.
