Iran FM Araghchi meets Egyptian counterpart in Cairo
The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi who has taken a trip to Egypt at the head of a diplomatic delegation met and held talks on Tuesday with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty upon his arrival in Cairo.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the progress in Iran-Egypt bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing the trajectory with the aim of strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, tourism, and culture.
They also exchanged views on regional and international developments, especially the humanitarian catastrophe in the occupied Palestinian territories resulting from the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
The ministers emphasized the need for humanitarian assistance to the people, an end to the genocide and crimes committed by the Zionist regime, and the prevention of forced displacement of Gaza’s residents from their homeland.
They further discussed Iran’s nuclear issue, with Iran’s foreign minister reiterating the country’s principled stance in defending its rights and interests under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Araghchi described the unlawful attacks by the US and the Zionist regime as a severe blow to the principles of the UN Charter and international law.
He also pointed out the responsibilities of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to uphold the rights of NPT member states and expressed Iran’s readiness to draft a framework for engagement with the agency under the new circumstances caused by the unlawful attacks by the US and the Zionist regime, in accordance with parliamentary legislation.
Egypt’s foreign minister, in turn, emphasized the right of all NPT member states to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and praised Iran’s responsible approach in this regard.
Abdelatty also expressed Egypt’s readiness to facilitate Iran-IAEA interactions.
