Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, and his French, German, and UK counterparts as well as the EU foreign policy chief have held a joint telephone conversation regarding Iran's nuclear issue and the removal of unjust sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
During the conversation, Araghchi referred to Iran's principled stance on the importance of maintaining a dialogue and diplomatic space to prevent escalation of tensions. He also described the three European countries' move to reinstate the annulled UN Security Council sanctions as lacking any legal or logical justification. He underlined that the Islamic Republic of Iran has responsibly engaged in talks with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and has developed a clear protocol on how Tehran will fulfill its safeguard commitments under the new circumstances, which all parties must recognize in terms of its importance and value. Now, it is the turn of the other sides to use this opportunity to continue the diplomatic path and prevent an avoidable crisis, which would show their seriousness and commitment to diplomacy.
Araghchi stressed that Iran is ready to reach a fair and balanced solution that guarantees mutual benefits. Achieving this goal requires a responsible and independent approach from the three European countries and refraining from being influenced by actors who place no value on diplomacy or the principles and rules of international law.
During these telephone discussions, Araghchi and the European sides exchanged views and mutual proposals for the continuation of diplomacy.
